AMC adds new high-definition magnetic resonance system (MRI)
Eunice, Louisiana (August 10, 2009) Acadian Medical Center has incorporated a remarkable diagnostic tool for helping physicians reach confident diagnoses to provide the best patient care. The Signa HDe 1.5T MR system from GE Healthcare delivers highly detailed images of the human body with high speed, excellent resolution and unique applications.According to Butch Frazier, CEO at Acadian Medical Center, this incredible technology provides quick exams and great comfort for patients, while providing high diagnostic confidence for doctors.
"Some patients can present special challenges when undergoing MR testing," says Mr. Frazier. "Now, even those who are the most difficult to examine with conventional MR approaches can be easily imaged and diagnosed."
"The addition of the Signa HDe 1.5T MR system complements and extends the range of quality diagnostic services that Acadian Medical Center offers residents of Eunice and its surrounding areas," According to Frazier, "It provides us with excellent image quality and imaging speed, and enhances the overall diagnostic confidence we have in all of our studies."
The Signa HDe 1.5T MR system is the latest evolution of GE Healthcare's long line of MR innovations. Originally developed in the late 1970s, from discoveries made in the 1940s, MR scans combine the power of magnetic and radio frequency fields, allowing physicians to view the tissue structure of internal anatomy without exploratory surgery.
MR exams are used when people are ill or injured, or when a physician suspects a medical problem that is not easily detectable from a conventional physical examination. The GE Signa HDe 1.5T MR system non-invasively assists physicians in the diagnosis of a variety of anatomical areas, such as the head, abdomen and chest, including detailed imaging of the vascular system and major organs.
